Such a nobleman not seen
Unassuming and steadfast
One Moses spoke face to face
With the First and the Last

Out of the land of Egypt
Bearing rich silver and gold
The Israelites set forth
A nation’s story unfolds

Great signs and great wonders
God’s sovereign mighty hand
Accomplishing by the prophet
To release a private band

From the midst of the nation
Famed mysteries performed – he
Pestilence and outbreaks
Parting of the Red Sea

Destroying Pharaoh’s army
The kings of the Amorites
The giant children of Anak
Nay, even the Canaanites

Despite their insurrections
With mediating prayer
Answering for Israel
For Almighty God to spare

Upon blessing the twelve tribes
He scaled Mount Nebo to see
The promised land of Canaan
The Glory that was to be

This noble servant of God
In the land of Moab died
The tribes of Israel mourned
For thirty days they cried

Moses, the prophet of God
Was hid nigh the promised land
With mercy and compassion
By God’s all-powerful hand
