Idlers who abjure the Christian faith and their national government delude themselves; doubtless they are subject to the authority like everyone else. Hence, they should actively pursue mortal civic responsibilities. If neither, the “look out for number one” libel remains.
Those who rule don’t suffer the misconception that humanity is capable of righteous living (the American Daydream is for the masses). Rather, rulers glorify the reality of inevitable ruin; they play to lose, which is counterintuitive, thus causing wholesale confusion and dismay among the faithless.
