Brazen masses glory in servitude. Inordinate pride stems from paying for services rendered. Relieved of the occupation of securing, processing, fashioning resources, multitudes have lapsed into reverie, likening themselves to lords and ladies. Nay, for the landed gentry, who pay individuals to serve them, also own the resources. Today, commonalities pay corporations for services, yet these suppliers own the resources. Thus, society becomes a slave to remote corporate entities.
This shows the subtlety of Satan et al. while highlighting the feebleness of worldly creatures tempted by the sparkling lure of pride.
In days of yore, the masses were self-reliant. Co-dependence now prevails, and billions would flop, flounder should they find themselves in a position of independence, where they had to hunt and gather. Amenities act like buoys, keeping people afloat, and without them, the average life span would plummet like a stone.
So, aristocrats harness the determination of society. One is hard-pressed to provide an example of a nation whose inhabitants do not bank on money.
Another misconception is businesses would fail if not frequented by the masses. Not so. Businesses leverage vital resources that are always in demand. And it is no longer possible for the masses to revert to self-sufficiency, given the complexity of the environment. While legions were glorying in ease, the landscape was undergoing a transformation.
From the Cary Institute: 83% of the United States is within 1 km (0.6 miles) of a road. There are roughly 2 billion parking spaces in the United States, collectively amounting to the size of Vermont. Areas covered by pavement all contribute to the footprint of humans on Earth, limiting plant production and the preservation of nature. Parking lots contribute to the urban heat island effect, as no trees are present to cool the atmosphere by transpiration. Lost is the precipitation that falls on these areas, constituting what hydrologists call “quick flow,” which contributes to the likelihood of urban flooding. There is little opportunity for this runoff to interact with soil, which often removes pollutant elements, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and arsenic.
Leastwise, the prospect is a world of pervasive technological surveillance and a bodily mark without which nobody may buy or sell. Hence, these two elements inflict, make compulsory, a one-world religion (governed by a corresponding ruler).
Developing a cohesive platform where society is subject to a select few takes time. And the more, the merrier. Three cheers to Satan et al., for persisting failure, demise, the increased median life span, and the so-called higher standard of living.
