Blissful Happiness

Global society has emerged more precarious because of patterned ease and facility. Businesses that provide a service outnumber manufacturing concerns nine to one. Transition from a manufacturing economy to one service-oriented has redefined work.

That we are more intelligent than our predecessors is a misconception. Indeed, it takes careful thought to produce garments, footwear, and shelter. Knowledge as regards how to gain certain raw materials, process, and store them. Knowledge, once passed from generation to another, has dissipated, cleared by mechanization. Overall motivation is to do as little as possible, physically and most important, yet least appreciated—mentally. Reliance on machinery is vogue, such as washing/drying clothing. Dump a load in, add solvent, push a button. Abracadabra! A desirable outcome, as promised.

Examine the ever-burgeoning entertainment industry. By proportion, amusements proliferate as labor and associate thought wanes. In the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries, people could not afford to engage in antisocial media, for example, even if extant, for survival demanded one’s utmost time and attention. So, the size and scope of the entertainment field betrays a luxuriant, insouciant condition.

The Entertainment Software Association reports Americans spent $58 billion on video games in 2024, to include content, hardware, and accessories. As the economy has shifted from manufacturing to service, perspectives have gone from vital to trivial. Such is life. Not exclusive to the United States, but the U.S. has ushered in this lifestyle that, according to the United Nations, all other nations must emulate. Whether Communist, or Republic, societies share in working for money to attain needs and desires. Masses are reliant on money for services provided by businesses, reinforced by governments.

Dependence equals vulnerability. One must query, therefore, the motivations of ringleaders, for the masses, will follow irrespectively. The potential for world-wide evil exists just as it pertained locally during the German Reich, for example, which noted historians view as a microcosm. Hence the prophetic verbiage, “The world a la Nazi-Germany, only far more hi-tech, ten times as lethal.”

As society waxes delicate, perceived threats magnify beyond proportion. Alright, citizens may be required to take part in warfare against an aggressor. However, should a biomedical plague ensue, the act of persecuting others as though they are pestilential is beyond the pale, excessive. Likewise, as regards race, religion, ethnicity and so on. Yet we witnessed such theatrics during the Corona crusade. For instance, the Canada convoy protest where the government et al. restricted bank accounts of those listed as protest organizers while granting “extraordinary powers” to law enforcement.

A “good life” not owed to anybody. Nay, believing certain mortals embark on political careers to improve the lot of sheep-like followers that jubilate in leisure at every opportunity—with so much in danger—is puerile. Leastwise, entitlement has set in, with factions rioting over perceived injustices.

Casual subjects are in denial as to the parlous changes that have beset their “beloved” nation. Astronomic debt, stellar migration, imposing censorship lays it all out. A familiar newscaster, or spirit, will have to appear—like magic—on a crystal screen (weird and wonderful medium) and state the obvious for subjective inhabitants (intrinsic followers) to trust certain realities.
