A top-down perspective means focusing on governance, and here, civil mediocrities put on airs and graces. Indeed, neither political party is supremely right, nor can it be. An unwillingness to admit this patent reality is a symptom of the ancient divide-and-conquer scheme rulers will employ.
There is but one administration, yet, within the public domain, there are two. That is until a scare ensues, then party affiliation desists. Bilateralism reigned during the Corona crusades. Multitudes traded their abstract mask of pride for a material mask of fear; danced like marionettes to the tune of anti-social distancing.
Hence, the administration acts. The public, whereas exercises faith, spews forth rhetoric that surrounds mere abstractions ad nauseam. Alas, division betrays lack of awareness. Sans realistic goals, shameless believers in humankind wallow in futility predicated on temporal, worldly faith.
The surge in pride following “social” media concerns advances a dire spectacle. Facebook, for instance, is where millions seek support, and endeavor to glorify trivial circumstances in a classic rendition of gilding the lily. People on the lowest rungs of society strive in vain to add to their stature. (the hoi polloi is soul-stirring, so the upper-crust is divine. An intricacy augmenting the rulers’ hold). Everybody is somebody; all it takes is dreamlike imagination and the imprimatur of others in need.
Cursory defines the level of scrutiny given to those populating our attenuated friends list. Behold, we all display fatal characteristics, only there is no such heading on web-based profiles where the formula quantity over quality predominates. Gross truth detracts from the idol we wish to sketch. Don’t ask, don’t tell is an implicit proverb circulating among active users. Asocial media serves as a meteoric escape mechanism, displacing reality. Observe the preoccupation with cellular devices, whether walking, exercising, driving, standing in line, or even at work. One gets the impression that patrons would fondle their mobile phones while showering if approved.
As earthly life becomes desolate, stroke a cellular phone and ascend into “the cloud.” Past regret, the individual’s cyber image eclipses their actual image. The active user will cultivate their virtual persona and, by proportion, ignore their true self.
Facebook renders a facelift, in a spiritual sense. Material developments brought about by industrialization are just part of a pretentious formula. The psyche must also yield to modernization.
Misanthropic media ensures an inordinate focus on our puny microcosm of life and, by virtue, less on the grand macrocosm of creation. For sobriety’s sake, think in terms of how those who govern view oneself and the mixed multitudes. Surely, overlords loathe the weak rabble, which basks in mean jobs, relaxes in mean communities and propagates like strays. To believe otherwise suggests one is daydreaming; mentally absent in “the cloud.”
