Self-incrimination

Mortal beings are witnesses against themselves in that inhabiting a perfect earth abundant in resources strife dominates behavior. Take Israel and Palestine, for instance. How does one distinguish between two debased bodies? Ethnicity, gender, age, nationality? Absurd! Indeed, we should not draw such distinctions, for we discount humanity and spike prejudice—the current vogue. Highlighted is that there is one law and, by consequence, a single Lawgiver. “A house divided cannot stand.” We are not one, hence the emphasis on superficial, false distinctions. Should we perceive oneness as achievable, then on what predicate? There is one distinction, however, that is true, which majorities have and will continue to reject, leading to their ultimate demise.

An alarming trend in warfare: 10% of quarries in WWI were civilian. That percentage rose to 50% during WWII. In Vietnam it reached 70%, and, at last, concerning the Iraq conflagration—90%. All truths are not glorious. Some are despicable, beyond words, like non-combatants accepted as objects of explosive devices, toxic substances like white phosphorus. Human beings are callous, cowardly, and it is nothing to glory in, yet people do glory in themselves, eliding patent, unsavory aspects of our condition. This speaks of arrogance; unbalance, for accepting our complete state would be to denounce humankind and look for salvation outside our miserable selves.

Do universal publics consider themselves responsible for the shocking craze in warfare, or only political leaders? Such conduct represents a moral decline of self-styled civilization. We’ve taken something as appalling as warfare and improved upon it. To hold politicians responsible is a further act of cowardice, for they are societies’ representatives. If only the U.S. Constitution provided the citizenry a right to correspond with leadership and express their misgivings or thanks concerning certain proposed legislation and policies.

The establishment, despite assurances to the contrary from reliable researchers—to include appointed weapons inspectors—plunged Usonia into combat in Iraq (woe unto that distant civilian population). Closer to home, what of the thousands of families of American service members forever marred? And what of the military participants dead, maimed, impaired? Apparently, these concerns kept little, or no value compared to material rewards seized by ‘leading lights’ in the arms and commodities trades (with the nihil obstat of lazy electorates).

Who decided on the 700-billion-dollar figure to ‘bail out’ wayward investment strategists? Given the somnambulant masses, a third of that amount could have composed a tribute to certain accomplices.

Spending taxpayer money on holidays, meals, outings is an option which political officers heap on top of their handsome salaries and princely positions. Does this ally with integrity and sincerity? Apply the same regarding the election processes. Are we to surmise that politicians flee from any form of manipulation? How is flagrant monetary spending and wanton immigration conducive to stability?

The above circumstances do not spell trust. Rather, diligent analysis, proper communication is in order. Alas, the hoi polloi wallows in an eighth-grade mentality. Today’s grownups relax under a spell called “extended adolescence.” Most people may reckon that items within the forged structure of life could bring harm when indeed it is the wasteful structure itself.

People must conclude, given the aforesaid citations, that blind faith in conventional guides is an absurdity. Also, mere professors of Christianity looking horizontally for hope reveal their spurious intent is to make circumstances more pleasant, which is contrary to the Scripture which discloses things will get worse. Therefore, the Christian’s approach is humble, one on one, and not legislating for the whole of humanity.

Elected officials—and their remote cohorts—cannot fathom righteousness, let alone express it. Followers find restraining their leaders is too much work, thus flounder in desperate hope it will all work out anyhow somehow (believism) or launch towards the other extreme and engage in mean-spirited protests like juveniles deprived of certain lusts. It is not a matter of education or intelligence. Rather, judgment and despite advances in knowledge and technology, wisdom remains elusive to humanity, struggling in vain to govern itself autonomously.

So, who’s left?

Exactly!
