Given the many simple lies propounded as truths through media channels by certain legislators, tycoons, and drudges over the decades, it would seem reasonable for citizens upon receipt to treat mainstream news with caution; consider themselves advised of certain leadership positions as regards specified matters; perform due diligence to verify particular claims as opposed to reflexively accepting whatever spews forth from those at the top. Alas, this is not the case owing to dependence and comfort from technological novelties. Thus, a spirit of reciprocity takes hold, engendering a dominant status of blind obedience—a believism or nationalism. Clearly, intellect is not guiding the minds, for example, of U.S. citizens concerning gross sovereign debt, a porous southern border. Allegiance to the textbook ideal of the state (as if the founders were divinely inspired and infallible) answers why the electorate continues to express supreme confidence in central management, which intelligence shows has strayed from the vital principles of governance laid down centuries ago. Sadly, as leadership goes, so go the masses.
Favored political and financial gurus would have populaces believe deficit spending is not only beneficial but sustainable. One measure propagated to justify this claim is to quantify the sovereign debt against the Gross Domestic Product. Conversely, domestic companies are not obliged to bail out the government; such depictions are absurd. Another spurious claim involves American equity exchange figures, suggesting if the market is thriving—all is well. However, careful examination reveals exceptional market performance leading up to financial collapses. Record highs imply risky speculative activity and a likely downfall.
You can find accredited stooges in any field of endeavor. And, if your influence extends to control of mass media, it is a small thing to elevate willing dupes to national prominence. Having gained the trust of eager masses, the propagation of obscene theories; further enabling their function is realistic. Two notables from a voluminous list of wags include Darwin and Keynes.
Take another: the prominent scientists promoting eugenics in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Indeed, one cannot question their educational background, skill, and intelligence. Such people not only met the bar of excellence but dominated the spheres of biology, medicine etc. Paramount, still, is the question concerning their consciences. Education is not a defense against malevolence. Routinely, learning enriches malice; the same for wealth and power.
Eugenics (now titled trans-humanism) endures; most honored in the United States, where investigators gathered to study years before the military coalitions of WWII. And after the inordinate martial depravity, lofty accommodations alighted upon leading scientists through several countries. One may look at the enthusiastic researchers as set pawns that conducted hideous medical experiments on behalf of universal “leading lights” for educational purposes.

What will prevent a recrudescence? As regards the mechanical behavior of the public—nothing! Honestly, we could argue such is occurring now.
Since the industrial revolution, the masses wallow in mechanized conveniences, forsaking precise political concern/activity, while public officials—although enjoying the same amenities—keep governance at the forefront. This accounts for public ineffectiveness to enact worthwhile changes as the administration has passed them by. Minor inhabitants chiefly leave pivotal outcomes to the big boys and girls comprising the administration; contrary to the erstwhile doctrines they claim to defend.
Invariably, biblical truth shines through, revealing humankind is incapable of governing itself. With ease, this warning conveys the whole of fearful humanity because of interdependence between all societies. Interdependence results from the radical spike in high-tech innovations after spans of modest gains. Indeed, a precursor.
